5.0 out of 5 stars Repugnant smell, can’t use it as a skin oil . I don’t think I could stand the smell to cook with it.
— Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2021
I have used safflower oil for several years on my skin, great moisturizer/ skin softener . It was a little more expensive but I needed it so ordered . It looks good, rich gold color. However the smell is repugnant. I can not stand to use it. I tried adding a few drops of essential oil to a small amount of it – not much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well to oil griddle.
— Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2025
I am using this oil for my griddle on my gas stove. I read that Safflower oil works well. I have oiled the griddle twice and it seems to be working nicely. It doesn’t leave a taste on the food and makes the griddle nonstick. I have not used this oil to cook with, so I cannot attest to that. The color is exactly like the picture and looks clear.
5.0 out of 5 stars Used for lotion
— Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2024
Used this oil for making lotion. The smell isn’t strong, almost like a sunflower, and it’s a light oil. It feels oily when first applied, but it soaks in quickly, leaving my skin feeling rich and moisturized, but not at all oily or wet. Very good quality. I felt like I had used a lot, but looked back and had barely dipped into the bottle, so I’d say it’s quite a bit of product for the price.

— Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2022
I received my Safflower Oil, and had an immediate problem; it was Orange in color. Usually it’s a very light Yellow or almost Clear. I opened it and immediately got a bad headache from the smell!! UGH!!! Almost EVERY REVIEW says “No refunds given AT ALL”; “Junk”; “Smells like fish grease!”I sent the Company a Message, told them my issues, and waited a couple days for their response. They apologized immensely, and have issued me a complete Refund; no problems, no issues!! That’s why I say their Customer Service is 5-Star!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Smells very strong – beware
— Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2025
The smell is extremely strong, smells like toasted sesame oil. Which is strange to me, other safflower oils I have purchased do not have an aroma. I use this for massage normally, but I can’t use this on clients as the scent is too potent. I appreciate the fact that this is organic and cold pressed, which may contribute to the strong smell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good facial oil
— Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024
I don’t care for the smell at all but that may be a “me” thing. The texture is nice, not heavy like castor oil but not as runny as olive oil. I use this with Tanaka powder for hair removal but it’s also nice with calming my skin. I have PCOS with hormonal cystic acne and hyperpigmentation – this hasn’t caused irritation or flare ups at all.

For all of those who say this oil smells bad…. this oil is UNREFINED. It has a nutty smell, that’s all.You are all the reason they are refining everything under the sun. You who can’t stand a natural smell, a seed in your fruit, etc. Get over it.
